A little about Kongwei Ying
I create deeply useful software tools for people.
I do this through my professional and personal experience as an entrepreneur, software engineer, designer, and marketer.
Aligned with my core work, I have a deep fascination with understanding the principles and laws that govern this reality and us as individuals.
Theology, self-realisation, meditation, metaphysics, philosophy, history, psychology, biomechanics, biology are all hobbies of mine.

My current focus
- Building Natural Scientific Calculator 2 - A second version of a scientific calculator I created many years ago
- Building Filtrum - A browser that precisely filters out negativity on the web
- Building Kairos Lifemap - A lifemapping tool that visualises the past, present and future
Where I'm based
I primarily live in Sydney, with periods of the year spent in Shanghai.
How I can help you personally
- I freelance as a software engineer and can help people and businesses build their own tools and apps.
- I share my insights and shed light on subtle dynamics that I've seen impact my own and other people's lives time and time again. You can read them below.
- My tools are intended to deeply and personally help your life. While they make money, they are not primarily a commercial venture.
My codex of subtle dynamics
My experience
- Many years ago, I created, designed and marketed Natural Scientific Calculator which got over 1 million downloads organically.
- I interned at Google and Microsoft, in both marketing and software engineering divisions respectively. Out of 1000s of people nationally and internationally, I was one of several who was selected.
- I later received offers to work as product manager and software engineer from these big tech companies. I declined these offers (maybe somewhat foolishly) to pursue my own more well-rounded path of development outside of the pigeonholing associated with traditional roles.
- I also ran a small software consultancy that built apps for various businesses, where I worked with my university friends.
